While LSU gave me a great education academically, it was my involvement in LSU Ambassadors that really made me stand out to my future employer. This organization gives you so many opportunities for growth, leadership, and service, and I would not be the person I am today without these opportunities afforded to me by LSU Ambassadors!

I was involved in recruiting all 13,000+ volunteers for all of the different events the NFL sanctioned and was in charge of managing them at those events. As of now, I am serving at Houston's restaurant and hoping to start my career in sports very soon!

As of May 2015, I relocated to Houston for work and I am excited to explore this new city!

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

As an ambassador, I am one of the few who never held a position of authority or attended FOAP or SROW, BUT that did not stop me from enjoying every minute I spent with my fellow AMBs. These were some of the best years while I was in college; I was able to meet some great people and learn from those around me. What I enjoyed most was Spring Invitational when I was able to be a leader because having a job and going to summer school always prevented me from attending other AMB events and this was my time to be an influence in new students entering LSU.

Since I graduated, I taught 7th and 8th grade math for a year. That was enough for me. I also worked at Lifetouch Church Directories and Portraits for a while as a photographer. Both were segways to my dream job. I was lucky enough to be hired at Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant in April 2006, and don't plan on leaving... ever. I get to travel all over the country, and we will be going international soon. I live in Houston, TX and try to stay involved with the LSU Alumni Association here. I am not married, but have a wonderful boyfriend that is more than likely the one. I bought a house in May 2009 and am loving being a homeowner. I am happy and the healthiest I've ever been. I have been introduced to mud runs and love them. I also have a family that I sponsor in Guatemala. I went to see them last October, and plan on going back this year. I'll probably go back as much as possible for as long as I can. I love doing mission work and helping out where I can with volunteering. Which as an old Ambassador, is no surprise.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

I absolutely loved being an Ambassador. I loved the challenges it presented me. I loved the people I met through the organization. In fact, I'm still really good friends with most of my Ambassador friends. FOAP was an unforgettable summer that I'll never forget. I became more confident, more of a leader, and made lifelong friends. I learned a lot about myself by being an Ambassador. The experience of being on council is hard to even put into words. It was an emotional year. I will be forever grateful that I was blessed to be a part of it. It truly was an integral part of my growth as a person and a leader. I have so many great memories that it is hard for me to even know where to start when I try to explain what it was like to be an Ambassador. I'll just say that it is a lifechanging organization with some of the best people that you will ever meet involved. The opportunites you have are priceless. It will help you long after you leave LSU. It is the best thing I did in college.

Besides that just slowly working away and running and hiking with my dog in any spare time.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience & Influence:

LSU Ambassadors definitely made the biggest impact on who I am today as a leader, not only when I was enrolled in undergrad, but also currently as I work from day to day. The experience I achieved working closely with small groups of incoming students as well as experience achieved working hand-in-hand with some of LSU's finest isn't something that one can go out and get in a seminar or off the shelf in a store. This organization helps you fully reap skills you might never had known you had within yourself. Through my time working SROW, FOAP, on Council, and daily within the organization, I not only had the time of my life, but met incredible people who I would still be close friends with to this very day. I couldn't begin to imagine what my LSU experience would have been without LSU Ambassadors!

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

I treasure my experience as an LSU Ambassador. At the time, it was a fun way to serve my university during my time on campus. Since graduating, I have grown a deeper appreciation for what the organization provides. Keeping in touch with a handful of former students really has shown me how impactful the work of the Ambassadors can be. My time as an Ambassador continued my growth as a leader and helped shape the person I am today ...and improved my moves on the dance floor!

This is also known as getting paid to have fun/do what you love. Everyone should try it! I miss LSU like crazy, but I'm proud to be carrying on the Tiger tradition in the Big Apple.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

I was an Ambassador for two all-too-brief years, during which time I served as a FOAP leader and as Membership associate chair. I left the organization in order to take leadership positions at The Daily Reveille, but the experiences Ambassadors left me with never escaped me, despite my absence. I still fondly recall my FOAP summer, general meetings and all the wonderful recruiting, orienting and advising we did. It's one of the best ways to embrace your LSU experience.

It all started at orientation. I knew that as soon as the OL's hit the stage for FOAP I knew this was where I was meant to be. This was home. I was able to give back that feeling as I became an LSU ambassador. It just all fit into place.

I was placed at a charter school near downtown Dallas, and fell in love with teaching! I taught third grade for two years, and then left the classroom for a year to work for Teach For America where I trained, developed, and supported 35 corps members in Dallas and Fort Worth. I loved the experience but missed working with kids everyday! So, now I am back at the school I taught at during my corps experience, teaching 1st grade and LOVING it! I will eventually come back home but for now, I am enjoying life in Dallas.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

Wow! Where do I even begin? Being an LSU Ambassador, hands down, was the best thing I could have done in college. All of my memories from college somehow involve Ambassadors in one way or another. The people I met and the lessons learned along the way shaped me into the person and leader I am today. LSU Ambassadors taught me how to lead and work with others, set goals, celebrate success, and be innovative. All of these things help me every single day in my classroom, and for that I'm forever grateful. I miss it so much and think about Ambassadors all the time!

Met Nick as an associate in the fall of 2007, and we were married after 5+ years of dating just a few weeks ago. So, holla to AMB for making the love match! We bought a house in Baton Rouge, and he is currently getting his Ph.D. in Biological Engineering.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

Ambassadors was and still is one of the best decisions I ever made. It instilled a love for LSU in me that still remains strong today. Plus, I met some of the best people out there, including my husband! AMB is one of the best organizations at LSU hands down, and every person involved in it comes out better than they started!

    Stacie (Lambert) deBlieux

Assistant Attorney General, Louisiana Department of Justice

    Current Location: Baton Rouge, LA

    Graduation: Spring 2001

    Major: Economics

    Associate Class: 1997

    Positions & Involvement:

  • Publications Associate Chair 1999-2000
  • FOAP Team
  • Selective SROW Committee
  • Selective Recruiting Committee
  • Since Graduation:

I began law school at LSU the semester after I graduated, in the fall of 2001. There I met my husband, David deBlieux, who is now a prosecutor for the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office. We got married during our last year of law school in December 2003. I graduated in May 2004, took the bar exam in July, started a new job in another city the following week, moved there a few months later, and had our first child in December 2004. It was a busy first year of marriage and first year out of school! We eventually decided to move back to Baton Rouge to be closer to our families, and we had our second and third children in April 2007 and September 2008. I have been working with the state Attorney General's office since we moved back to Baton Rouge in 2006, and have held several different positions there. I am currently the Antitrust Chief in the Public Protection Division, although I do also handle a number of non-antitrust matters as well. I've been involved in the ongoing state litigation that arose out of Katrina and the BP oil spill, as well as a number of other consumer protection-related cases such as the multi-state investigation against Toyota and Apple. Aside from my professional life, I stay busy as a mom to 3 young children who already have way too much going on! If I'm not at work, I'm usually shuttling someone to a practice or game of some sort. Our two oldest children attend St. George Catholic School and our youngest is in the Montessori program at The Dufrocq School.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

I have to say, selfishly, that one of the biggest impacts that the LSU Ambassadors had on my life was to introduce me to so many wonderful friends, many of whom I am still in very frequent contact with today. My husband was in a fraternity and has hardly kept up with anybody he was friends with in college (and doesn't know half of their real names) and he is constantly amazed at how close all of my Ambassador friends have remained even now, more than 10 years later. Aside from the amazing bonds that we forged, I also gained a ton of priceless practical experiences. Nothing could have prepared me better for life and dealing with various people and personalities than to deal with scared and/or abrasive 18-year-old college freshmen AND their parents! Truly, I learned as an Ambassador how to read people and situations, how to guide others while still being a good listener, and how to solve problems on the fly. Each and every one of those skills has played a role in the jobs I have had since graduation, and they have also aided me socially and in my personal life. Whether it is making a new "mommy" friend in the midst of a soccer game or field trip, or organizing classroom activities and coordinating 25 different parents' opinions, requests, and desires as a room volunteer at my kids' school, the "people skills" that I honed as an Ambassador have made my life more enjoyable and run a lot more smoothly.

    Stewart Humble

Graduate Student at University of Oxford

    Current Location: Egan, LA

    Graduation: Spring 2012

    Major: Biological Sciences

    Minor: Chemistry

    Associate Class: 2008

    Positions & Involvement:

  • FOAP Team - Parent Orientation Leader
  • Selective Recruiting Committee
  • Places of Employment:

  • Undergraduate Researcher, LSU Dept. of Chemistry and Dept. of Biological Sciences, January 2011-May 2013
  • Grenoble INP (LMGP) - Stagiaire (Intern/Researcher), May 2013-October 2013
  • Since Graduation:

Currently, I'm working with a team at Grenoble INP (Minatec) in Grenoble, France towards completing a research project for an international competition called "iGEM" -- International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition. I was asked to come for a few months on a fully funded internship on behalf of LSU, and so far the trip has been great. This past fall, I was selected as a Rhodes Scholarship Finalist, allowing me to represent LSU in Houston during interviews--I was not selected, but the experience will last forever. I have been successful in applying to Medical School, where I will eventually attend LSUHSC in New Orleans. After my Rhodes interview, I still felt compelled to become involved with the progams at Oxford that fit my interests. So, I applied on my own and was accepted! I will be attending the University of Oxford starting in October of 2013, pursuing a Masters of Science in Medical Anthropology. I will then return to Louisiana and attend LSUHSC in New Orleans for fall 2014.

    LSU Ambassadors Experience and Influence:

Service, not only to the university, but also to others, was a huge part of my life during the time I have spent at LSU. I’m still passionate about helping others, and doing so inspires me to work harder to achieve my goals. Being an LSU Ambassador taught me many things, but my experiences as an AMB gave me the inspiration to expand my horizons and connect with others.
