Brendan Thomas Moore, 16, Tragically Killed by Train in Bridgend, Wales – Investigation Ongoing

Bridgend, Wales – Brendan Thomas Moore, a 16-year-old boy, tragically lost his life after being struck by a train near Wildmill station on the night of Saturday, September 14, 2024. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., and despite the swift response from emergency services, including paramedics and British Transport Police (BTP), Brendan was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest into Brendan’s death was opened on September 18 by coroner’s officer Keeley Mason in Pontypridd. The inquest revealed that Brendan’s identity was confirmed the day after the tragic accident through fingerprint analysis. A postmortem examination conducted on September 20 determined the provisional cause of death as "multiple catastrophic injuries following impact by a moving train," with further toxicology results pending.

Assistant Coroner Kerrie Burge has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and more evidence is needed. The inquest has been adjourned to a later date. Burge offered her heartfelt condolences to Brendan’s family during the hearing.

Tributes have poured in for Brendan, described by those close to him as a kind and caring individual. Local resident Hannah Worrall commented on social media, "Omg, awful," while Margaret Elizabeth Jones expressed her sorrow, saying, "How sad."

British Transport Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, which has left the Bridgend community in mourning.
