Calvin "Extra Fingers" Smith, Beloved Community Figure and Mentor, Passes Away at Age 60 in Ajax, Ontario

Ajax, Ontario – Calvin "Extra Fingers" Smith, a cherished community member and mentor, passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2024, following an extended stay in the hospital.

Despite initial positive signs of recovery, Calvin tragically passed just hours after showing improvements.

Calvin Smith, known for his incredible work ethic and infectious personality, was celebrated as a player, coach, and referee by those who knew him.

Mike Quigley shared on Facebook, “Calvin was one of the hardest working players, coaches, referees I’ve had the pleasure of having in my life.”

Smith was loved by many for his ability to uplift those around him, his active lifestyle, and his role as a mentor.

In a tribute, Chevon Griffiths, who organized a GoFundMe in his honor, stated, "Calvin’s impact and influence was immeasurable.

He embodied the term ‘Friend,’ always someone you could confide in and lean on."

Funds raised will support his wife Joan and his children, Mathew, Malcolm, and Vanessa, during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements are being planned and will take place in the coming weeks.

Calvin will be remembered not just for his achievements but for the lasting legacy of kindness and friendship he left behind.
