Houlka, Mississippi – Calvin Henry Martin, a beloved resident of Houlka, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the age of 74.
Surrounded by his family, Calvin’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones.
Born on April 20, 1950, in Vardaman, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Jessie “Jake” Benton Martin and the late Virginia Duncan Martin.
Calvin was married to his wife Denise on January 1, 1976, and they spent 48 years together building a life filled with love and memories.
He was a former employee of Astro-Lounger in Houlka and enjoyed various hobbies, including gardening, hunting, fishing, and caring for his chickens.
Calvin was known for his outgoing nature and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends, many of whom have shared their condolences on social media.
Funeral services celebrating Calvin’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Southern Funeral Home, with visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Bro. Jacob Samuell will officiate the service.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Denise; his children Gregg and Dannielle, and their families, including six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Martin.
