Cohoes Resident Dougles Coon Sr. Remembered – Family Seeks Support for Memorial Celebration After Sudden Passing

Cohoes, NY — Dougles Coon Sr. tragically passed away from cardiac arrhythmia on Monday, September 16, 2024, while returning home from the store. The news has left his family and friends in deep sorrow as they come to terms with the sudden loss.

Dougles Coon Sr., affectionately known as Doug, had always expressed his wish to be cremated without any formal viewing or funeral services. Instead, he hoped for a large memorial celebration of life where friends and family could come together to share stories, enjoy good food, and have drinks in his memory. As he had no life insurance, the financial burden has fallen on his family, particularly his sister, who is on a fixed income.

To honor Doug’s final wishes and alleviate some of the financial stress, his niece Darcie Laughlin has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser titled “Help honor Dougles Coon SR’s final wishes.” As of now, $330 has been raised out of a $5,500 goal through four donations.

Several people have come forward to show their support. Danielle Dixon and Gamache Colleen each donated $100, while Kate Filicetti contributed $30. Darcie Laughlin, the organizer, shared that the funds raised will be used to cover the expenses for the memorial celebration and any remaining costs associated with Doug’s passing.

In a heartfelt message on Facebook, Barbara Boodrow wrote, “Please help if you can,” encouraging others to contribute and support the family during this difficult time.

Darcie Laughlin expressed her gratitude to everyone who has already donated and shared their condolences. She mentioned that any additional support would be greatly appreciated and noted that donations can also be made via Venmo to further assist with reaching their goal.

The family hopes to celebrate Doug’s life as he wished, bringing together all those who knew and loved him to honor his memory in the way he would have wanted.
