Connie Dale Cook, Respected UMWA Member, Passes Away at 76 in Kopperston, WV

Kopperston, WV – Connie Dale Cook, a long-time member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.

He was 76 years old.

Born on November 20, 1947, in Kopperston, WV, Connie was the son of the late Cecil Ray and Vadis Lafferty Cook.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters Pat Martin and Novella Cook, as well as his brothers Jesse, Dennie, Johnny, and Thomas Cook.

Connie is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 57 years, Brenda Carol Whitt Cook, his son Dale Cook and wife Kelly, his daughter Belenda Prudhomme and husband Joe, along with five grandchildren Bryce Robinson, Caleb Cook, Ainsley Prudhomme, Alessandra Prudhomme, and Kerri-Anne Cook.

Connie’s surviving siblings include his brother Raybon Cook and wife Dianne, and two sisters, Martha Carothers and Judy Brewer.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27th, at 1 pm at the Kopperston Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Raybon Cook officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers, and he will be laid to rest at the Farley Hill Cemetery, Coal City, WV.

Many people expressed their condolences on social media.

Brenda Lou Blankenship shared, “I remember him, he was a great guy… prayers for his family.”

Sue Owens also added, “Prayers.”

The family is being cared for by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
