David M. Austin, Longtime EMT with Egg Harbor Township, Passes Away After Completing 12-Hour Shift

Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey – David M. Austin, a respected and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with Egg Harbor Township, tragically passed away on the night of October 1, 2024, after completing a 12-hour shift. He was 52 years old.

Austin, who had served as an EMT for 30 years, was well known in the Atlantic and Cape May areas for his unwavering commitment to patient care. Over the years, he worked with multiple departments and services, before settling with Egg Harbor Township as a full-time EMT in November 2022. His colleagues and friends remember him as a quiet yet brilliant and compassionate individual who was always striving to improve, even earning his Paramedic certification in Pennsylvania during his career.

Egg Harbor Township Emergency Medical Services expressed their sorrow on social media, saying, "David possessed a love for helping others and truly cared for his patients. He was a dedicated EMT and a faithful friend."

Tributes have poured in from colleagues and friends. Desmond V. Harris shared, "Dave was one of the few people who offered his support when I struggled in EMT school." Katlyn Marie commented, "Rest in peace. Maybe 12-hour shifts shouldn’t be a thing anymore… too much stress."

David M. Austin leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication to helping others. Funeral service details will be announced at a later time.
