Surf City, New Jersey – Dorothy “Dot” E. Bennert, age 101, passed away on September 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of community service and family devotion.
Born on December 25, 1922, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she later moved to Livingston where she graduated from West Orange High School and worked at Monroe Calculating Machine Company.
Dot was deeply involved in her community, volunteering for over 20 years with the Surf City Fire Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Her family remembers her fondly, including her two sons, Larry and Thomas, and her daughter Patricia.
The community expressed its sorrow on social media, with one commenter noting, “Dot was a shining light in our community,” and another stating, “She will be deeply missed.”
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for October 11, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi in Brant Beach, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Surf City Ladies Auxiliary or St. Francis Center.
