Former Texas Rangers Pitcher Matt Bush Arrested After Serious Multi-Vehicle Accident in Arlington, Texas

Arlington, Texas – Matt Bush, a former pitcher for the Texas Rangers, was arrested on October 4, 2024, following a serious multi-vehicle collision that took place after he allegedly drove while intoxicated.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Pioneer Parkway when an Arlington Police officer attempted to stop Bush, who was driving erratically in a 2023 Lincoln Aviator.

Instead of pulling over, Bush reportedly fled the scene, leading the officer to lose sight of his vehicle.

Only minutes later, at around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of East Pioneer Parkway and South Collins Street.

The Lincoln Aviator, driven by Bush, was identified as the vehicle that had fled the earlier traffic stop.

Authorities believe that Bush ran a red light, causing the collision, which involved three other cars.

Witnesses at the scene reported that Bush tried to flee on foot after the crash but was stopped by bystanders who detained him until police arrived.

Both Bush and another driver were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, while the remaining drivers reported no injuries.

Police obtained a warrant for Bush’s blood sample after he refused to take a roadside sobriety test, and the analysis is pending.

Bush, who has a history of alcohol-related offenses, previously served prison time after a 2012 incident where he seriously injured a 72-year-old motorcyclist.

The Arlington Police Department is continuing its investigation into this latest incident.
