Hampton Resident Jamaal Trotman Passes Away at Age 32 Following Battle with Heart Failure

Hampton, Virginia – Jamaal Trotman, a resident of Hampton, tragically passed away on September 15, 2024, following a long and courageous battle with heart failure. Jamaal, who was born on March 27, 1992, had been dealing with numerous health issues in recent years, including Crohn’s Disease, Graves’ Disease, and ultimately heart failure.

Jamaal was known for his resilience, facing every obstacle life threw at him. In 2018, he was diagnosed with heart failure, a challenge he fought with strength and determination, often saying, "Ma, I’ma thug it out," as he continued to push through despite his health setbacks.

Family members and friends have taken to social media to share their condolences and memories of Jamaal. Gabrielle Jones, a long-time friend, posted, “You fought hard & did the best you could but now you can finally rest and no longer live in pain… Sleep In Peace.” Another friend, Johnny Boyd, shared his grief, writing, “I’m so broken behind this lil brother… You’re back with your heart now, love y’all both.”

Jamaal’s family is mourning the loss deeply, especially his mother, Lisa Graham, who is organizing a fundraiser to support his burial ceremony. She expressed her sorrow and shared how Jamaal had always beaten the odds, making his passing even more heartbreaking for the family. "We never expected the passing of Jamaal just off the fact of him always beating the odds and coming out on top," she said.

In December 2023, Jamaal’s long-time partner, Gabby, passed away due to Sickle Cell complications, which devastated Jamaal. The couple shared a son, Uriah, who has now tragically lost both parents within a span of nine months. Jamaal is also survived by his three other children, Julian (Juju), Jamaya (Mymy), and Kamryn (Kam), who now mourn the loss of their father.

The family is requesting donations to help cover the costs of Jamaal’s funeral, hoping to honor his legacy and give him the final farewell he deserves. As Lisa Graham mentioned in the fundraiser, "We need all the help anyone is willing to give, as well as support during this mourning."

Jamaal’s passing has left a profound impact on his family and friends, and he will be remembered for his strength, love for his children, and the battles he fought valiantly throughout his life.
