Holsworthy Community Mourns the Sudden Loss of Beloved Businessman and Philanthropist, Michael Dennis ‘Mike’ Bridgman

Michael Dennis ‘Mike’ Bridgman, a well-known figure in the Holsworthy community, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 65. Bridgman, who was joint owner of Holsworthy Golf Club and a former owner of Bridgman’s Agriculture Merchants, was highly regarded for his contributions to local business and charity work as a member of the Torrington Rotary Club.

The community has been deeply saddened by his sudden passing, with many taking to social media to express their condolences. “I can’t put into words the sense of loss all those who knew him will be feeling,” wrote Ian French, echoing the sentiments of many who admired Mike’s generous and kind-hearted nature. Dee Smith described him as “a fantastic, kind, generous man with a heart of gold.”

A celebration of Mike Bridgman’s life will be held at the North Devon Crematorium, Barnstaple, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:40 am. In honor of his vibrant personality, mourners are requested not to wear formal mourning clothes or ties. The family has asked for donations to be made to Prostate Cancer, the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes U.K., and the Rotary Club of Torrington in lieu of flowers.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda, his children Robert, Emily, Sara, and Martin, as well as his cherished grandchildren Florence, Jayden, Bettie, and Rory. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a respected member of the community. His loss will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“Mike was a true gentleman, such sad, sad news,” shared Lynsey Wade, reflecting the collective grief of a community that will miss him dearly.
