Jason Campbell, 43, Dies in Outer Banks Plane Crash Alongside Four Others

Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina – Jason Ray Campbell, age 43, tragically died in a plane crash that claimed five lives on Saturday, September 28, 2024, near the First Flight Airport on the Outer Banks.

The single-engine Cirrus SR-22 plane crashed into a wooded area near the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, with reports confirming that all passengers on board perished.

Among the deceased were Campbell, from Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Kate McAllister Neely, age 39, also from Southern Pines.

The victims included Shashwat Ajit Adhikari, 31, from Silver Spring, Maryland; Matthew Arthur Fassnacht, 44, from Marietta, Georgia; and an unnamed 6-year-old child.

Witnesses reported that the plane was attempting to land when it caught fire, ultimately leading to the tragic crash.

Emergency services, including the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department, responded quickly, and the fire was extinguished.

Investigations are currently underway by the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the crash.

Funeral arrangements for Jason Campbell and the other victims will be announced by their families in the coming days.
