John Kamarer, Renowned Railroad Engineer and Marine Veteran, Passes Away at 67 in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

Camp Hill, Pennsylvania – John P. “Chooch” Kamarer, a well-respected railroad engineer and Marine veteran, passed away on September 23, 2024, at the age of 67.

His death has left the Camp Hill community mourning the loss of a man known for his dedication, warmth, and zest for life.

Born in Harrisburg on February 2, 1957, John was the son of the late James and Wihelmena Kamarer.

John spent his career working for Conrail and Norfolk Southern, earning the respect of colleagues in the transportation sector with his strong work ethic and relentless commitment.

Outside of his professional life, he was an entrepreneur and a devoted sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about Penn State football.

John also enjoyed riding his Harley, sharing a drink with friends at the local VFW, and celebrating the Washington Redskins’ victories.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his son Shea Kamarer, daughters Jenna Kamarer and Janelle Browand, and eight grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his son, Kiley Bixler.

A visitation will be held at Parthemore Funeral Home on Monday, September 30, 2024, with services beginning at 12:30 PM, followed by interment at Rolling Green Cemetery.

In honor of his service, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
