Jonathan Bizilia, 27-Year-Old Alabama Base Jumper, Dies in Tragic Accident Near Willard Peak

Box Elder County, Utah – Jonathan Bizilia, a 27-year-old man from Opelika, Alabama, tragically passed away on September 27, 2024, following a base-jumping accident near Willard Peak.

Bizilia, an experienced base jumper, was performing a wingsuit jump when he failed to provide an expected update to a friend who had accompanied him.

His friend reported him missing at approximately 2:00 p.m., prompting a coordinated search effort involving local authorities and helicopters from the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The search ended at around 4:00 p.m. when a DPS helicopter located Bizilia in rugged terrain, about one mile northwest of Willard Peak.

Unfortunately, it was confirmed that he had crashed and succumbed to his injuries.

The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office expressed their gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all teams involved in the search and recovery operation.

They acknowledged the assistance of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office and the DPS Aero Bureau, among others.

Bizilia’s sudden death has left his family and friends mourning, with many expressing their grief on social media.

No further details regarding funeral arrangements have been released, and his family is expected to share an obituary soon.
