Houston, Texas – Joselyn Espinoza, a 24-year-old young mother, tragically lost her life after being fatally shot on September 15, 2024.
The accused, 19-year-old Francisco Javier Ochoa, has been charged with manslaughter and recently surrendered to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident, which took place outside a hotel around 1:30 a.m., left Espinoza with a gunshot wound that ultimately led to her death despite efforts to save her at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
The community has been left outraged as Ochoa was released on a $50,000 bond shortly after being charged, with his next court appearance set for December 3rd.
Espinoza’s mother, Arely De Luna, has emerged as a vocal advocate for justice, expressing her disbelief and pain over the release of her daughter’s alleged killer.
“How is it possible that this murderer is free on bond until December 3rd, when he is due in court again?” De Luna questioned, her voice filled with anguish and despair.
Social media has been flooded with reactions from the community.
