Forest Grove, Oregon – The community at Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living is mourning the loss of Justin Pickering, who passed away in August 2024 following a severe brain hemorrhage.
Justin, aged 46, was well-known and cherished within the community for his kindness and willingness to help with events and activities.
He was the husband of Sheena Pickering, the Life Enrichment Director at Hawthorne Gardens, and his contributions to the lives of many were deeply felt.
The tragic events began on Friday, August 2, when Justin awoke with numbness in his arm, initially dismissing it as a result of an uncomfortable sleeping position.
However, the numbness soon spread to his leg, and he collapsed. Emergency services were immediately called, but his condition deteriorated rapidly during the ambulance transfer when he stopped breathing.
Upon arrival at the hospital, a large brain hemorrhage was discovered, and despite emergency surgery, doctors were unable to save him.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist Sheena and their family with medical expenses.
The outpouring of support from the community reflects the profound impact Justin made in his life, as his memory continues to inspire those who knew him.
His loss leaves a significant void, and he will be greatly missed.
