San Antonio, Texas – Manuel Mendoza, a 20-year-old resident, tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident on the night of September 25, 2024.
The collision occurred on Interstate 35 near a construction zone, where the vehicle Mendoza was traveling in crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler.
According to reports, the accident took place around 9 p.m., and Mendoza, who was a backseat passenger in the Nissan Altima, sustained severe blunt force injuries.
Despite being rushed to the hospital along with the other passengers for immediate medical care, Mendoza succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death, marking a somber loss for the community.
The crash, which also left the driver and two other passengers critically injured, has prompted an ongoing investigation by San Antonio police.
While initial speculation suggests that distracted driving or speeding may have been factors, no official cause has yet been confirmed.

Lyndsay Bradley, a friend of the family, posted, “A friend of my son’s was tragically killed in a car accident a couple nights ago.
He was only 20 years old, and his family needs help.” Kelly Jo Burtnett Boazman added, “I’m so sorry to read this,” while Vera Elizabeth Reeves shared, “This is heartbreaking.
My prayers go out to his family.”
