Mary Alice Baker, Beloved Community Member and Grandmother, Passes Away at Age 85

Eau Claire, Wisconsin – Mary Alice Baker, a cherished member of the Eau Claire community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 85.

Mary was born on July 26, 1939, in Radisson, Wisconsin, to Alma Ransome and Roy Porter.

She is remembered fondly by her family and friends for her generosity, warm spirit, and her dedication to helping others.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always bringing joy to those around her by gifting toys and sweets to the children in her life.

She spent much of her time volunteering, including her work as a driver for the Meals on Wheels program and her tireless efforts as a Room Mother during her children’s school years.

In addition to her community service, Mary helped manage the family business, BJ Auto Salvage, where she worked as the bookkeeper.

She is survived by her children, Renee Goeppinger and Mike Baker, as well as eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Hulke Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

Friends and family expressed their condolences on social media, with comments such as "So sorry for your loss, she was a very special person" from Joy McGee and “I love you great grandma, I miss you so much” from Sarantine Goeppinger.

Mary Alice Baker will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
