Somerset, Kentucky – Mikey New, a well-loved resident of Somerset, KY, passed away at the age of 56 on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Mikey was born on July 2, 1968, in Somerset to Linda Marlene Wright New and the late Charlie Paul New.
He spent over fifteen years working at Oakwood, where he was known for his kindness and willingness to help others.
Mikey was a man of faith, and his love for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling was evident in the way he spent his time.
Family was at the heart of Mikey’s life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamula Taylor New, whom he married on July 18, 1992.
He also leaves behind his daughter, Maryjo New, his brother Charles New, his sister Paula Grimsley, and numerous extended family members.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Goodwater Cemetery.
In an outpouring of grief on social media, Ashley Sears reflected, "He was always so kind. Sorry for your loss."
Laura Rutherford Phelps added, "Praying for all that loved Mikey! He was such a nice man."
