Patricia L. Crannell, Beloved Member of the Lake Luzerne Community, Passes Away at 88

Lake Luzerne, New York – Patricia L. Crannell, a cherished resident of Hawk Road, Lake Luzerne, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. She was 88 years old.

Born on August 2, 1936, in Glens Falls, Patricia, known affectionately as "Pat," was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Forester) O’Malley. She attended Glens Falls High School and later married Richard J. Crannell on October 2, 1955, at the Community Chapel in West Glens Falls. The couple built a life together in Lake Luzerne, where they resided for many years.

Patricia worked in the receiving department at Zayre (Ames) Department Store in Queensbury for several years. She was actively involved in her community, being a long-time member of the Corinth Theater Guild and a majorette instructor at Corinth Central School in the early 1970s. She was also a dedicated Brownie Leader during her daughters’ childhood.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard Crannell, and their two daughters, Kathleen Crannell and Judith Messore (Mark), both of Lake Luzerne. Patricia also leaves behind one grandchild, Mars Messore (Colleen Craven) of Troy, as well as two siblings, David O’Malley of Glens Falls and Teresa McGuire of Lake Luzerne. She is remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, and her many friends in the community.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 12th at Hartman Hill Cemetery in Lake Luzerne, followed by a reception at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. The family has expressed their gratitude to the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, particularly the ICU unit and hospital chaplain, Mother Nancy Goff, for their compassionate care during Patricia’s illness.

Condolences have poured in from the community. Shawn Bovee expressed, “Such a wonderful lady, my condolences and love to the family,” while Teresa Fiore wrote, “Pat was a very sweet and kind lady. May she rest in eternal peace.”

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Patricia’s name. Patricia L. Crannell will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
