Paul Kenneth “Dago” Meserole, Longtime Cordova Resident and Former Chief of Police, Passes Away at 90

Cordova, Alabama – Paul Kenneth “Dago” Meserole, a distinguished member of the Cordova community, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the age of 90.

A beloved figure, Mr. Meserole dedicated much of his life to serving his community and his country.

He served in the Army during the 1950s as a military police officer and was heavily involved with the Cordova Masonic Lodge 559, having been a member since 1964.

In addition to his Masonic contributions, he was instrumental in forming the Walker County Shrine Club and directed the Shrines Big Motor Core.

In his career, Mr. Meserole held significant law enforcement roles, including Chief of Police in Cordova during the 1970s and Chief Investigator for the Walker County District Attorney’s office.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Paul “Tony” Meserole and Bertie Venable Meserole, and his daughter Paula Snow Meserole.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Meserole, his children Shanda Birdsey, Tony Paul Meserole, and Wayne Trammell, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Sam Hood Memorial Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
