Reverend Davy Joe Montgomery, Long-Time Grenada Resident, Passes Away at 76

Reverend Davy Joe Montgomery, 76, of Grenada, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford. A respected figure in his community, Montgomery was known for his long-standing service and dedication to his faith.

Born on April 29, 1948, in Pontotoc to parents J.T. and Melba Abbott Montgomery, Davy Joe Montgomery lived a life of service both in his professional career and as a man of faith. He retired after many years of service at Modine in Grenada, but his impact on those around him continued long after.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the service at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.

The community has expressed an outpouring of love and condolences. "I’m so sorry to hear that Rev. Joe Montgomery has passed away!! Prayers for his children, grandchildren, and all of his family!!" wrote Barbara Horton Woods, a close acquaintance. Another community member, Lottie Vance Dill, expressed her sympathies, stating, “Such a nice man. Prayers for his family."

Reverend Montgomery leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
