Rick Oakes of Springdale, WA Passes Away Due to Massive Heart Attack – Family Seeks Support for Funeral and Burial

Springdale, WA – Rick Oakes, a beloved resident of Springdale, passed away on September 19, 2024, at 1:47 p.m. after suffering a massive heart attack. He had been life-flighted to Deaconess Hospital, where he tragically passed away. Rick had been struggling with his health, frequently in and out of the hospital over the last five years.

Rick Oakes was known for his selflessness, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether he knew them or not. A mechanic by trade, he often helped stranded motorists without charging them, simply because he knew the hardships of limited funds. His daughter, Shannon Oakes, shared that he was a caring and loving man, always putting others before himself.

In the wake of his passing, Rick’s wife, Diane Oakes, is now facing financial difficulties in arranging his funeral and burial. Shannon has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to support her mother during this difficult time. She explained that due to Rick’s passing, Diane will be receiving a minimal amount of social security, making it challenging to cover the expenses for his burial and funeral.

The fundraiser has so far raised $350 out of a $25,000 goal, with four donations from friends and family. Contributions include $100 from Arnie Merrick, $100 from Erica Kinley, $50 from Dina Shaughnessy, and $100 from Susan Holzheu.

ShanMarie Oakes posted on Facebook, “It is with much heartache and grief that we need your assistance to provide my selfless and loving father, Rick Oakes, a proper burial and funeral.”

Friends and family have expressed their condolences and support on Facebook. Lorraine Jacobs wrote, “Oh, I am so profoundly sorry. This is such shocking news. He faced so many challenges in life and still seemed to maintain a positive outlook…. I admire that very much. My heart goes out to all of you.” Rowena Younger added, “Oh no Hun I am so very sorry to hear this. My heart breaks for you and your family. John has told me so many stories of your father and your family and has always spoken very highly of all of you. My prayers for comfort and peace are with you all.”

The community has come together to support the Oakes family during this heartbreaking time. For those who wish to contribute, the GoFundMe page is available to help give Rick Oakes the funeral and burial he deserves.
