Rita Boone Passes Away After Courageous Battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Community Rallies to Support Family in Sunderland, ON

Sunderland, Ontario – Rita Boone, a beloved member of the Sunderland community, has passed away after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Her loss has left a significant void among family, friends, and all those who were touched by her unwavering spirit and kindness.

Rita dedicated over 20 years of her life to serving her church and local school, becoming a beacon of hope and strength within the community. Her selfless contributions have had a profound impact, and her memory will be cherished by many.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Adrianna Boone, Rita’s daughter, shared the family’s plans to honor her mother’s legacy through a fundraiser. The funds will be used to cover funeral expenses, support Rita’s retired husband during this challenging time, and continue her legacy by donating to her cancer center and Our Lady of Victory Parish in Newmarket.

Adrianna Boone expressed her gratitude, stating, “Please consider donating toward my cause. The funding will be used to pay for extra costs surrounding my mother’s funeral, supporting a loss of income to my father, and allowing us the time to grieve with him.” She added that the family aims to raise $12,000, with a portion dedicated to pancreatic research and the rest to be donated in Rita’s honor.

The community has shown immense support, with contributions already coming in. Emilio Molinaro and Ida Molinaro each donated $100, while Junior Parsons and Tamara Rico contributed $25 and $100, respectively. The fundraiser has raised $325 CAD so far.

Maryanna Galle Di Giulio shared her support on Facebook, and Junior Parsons commented, “Done,” reflecting the community’s shared sorrow and willingness to help.

The Boone family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They hope that Rita’s legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her, as well as those who benefit from the generous donations made in her memory.
