Robert "Bob" Long, 68, of Reidsville, NC, Passes Away, Leaving a Legacy of Family, Service, and Passion

Robert "Bob" Long, aged 68, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Syracuse, New York, to Clara and Nelson Long, Bob was known for his dedication to family, community, and country.

Bob retired after a 42-year career as a CNC machinist at Crouse Hinds and spent several years as a volunteer fireman with the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Department. He was passionate about classic cars, NASCAR races, and spending time camping and fishing with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Known as his family’s “MacGyver,” Bob was always ready to fix anything for those in need, adhering to his famous "Tool Law"—“If I don’t have it, you don’t need it!”

In addition to his father, Nelson Long, Bob was preceded in death by his son Jason Long and daughter Amanda Long. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, MaryAnne Long, his children Robert Long Jr., Brandy Krause, and Timothy Long, and ten grandchildren.

Condolences poured in on social media, with Deborah Porter Gardner posting, “Prayers sent,” and Barbara Walker offering, “Praying for family.”

Bob’s family has requested donations in his memory to the Trump National Committee, reflecting his strong patriotic spirit.
