Robert "Bob" Long of Reidsville, NC, Passes Away at Age 68, Leaving a Legacy of Family, Craftsmanship, and Patriotism

Robert "Bob" Long, 68, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Syracuse, NY, to Clara and Nelson Long, Bob lived a life dedicated to his family, work, and community.

A retired CNC machinist with 42 years of service at Crouse Hinds, Bob also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies included camping, fishing, NASCAR, and restoring classic cars. Known as his family’s MacGyver, Bob was always ready to fix anything for anyone, often sharing his famous "Tool Law": "If I don’t have it, you don’t need it!"

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, MaryAnne Long, his children Robert Long Jr., Brandy Krause, and Timothy Long, along with his beloved grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Nelson Long, his son Jason Long, and his daughter Amanda Long.

Social media tributes have poured in, with Ty Krause sharing, “Best Papa I could have asked for… forever you will be with me.” Josephine Lyons also expressed her condolences, saying, “I’m so sorry for your loss.”

Bob’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Trump National Committee, reflecting his strong patriotism and dedication to his country.
