Salt Lake City Resident Randy Baatz Tragically Passes Away in Single-Vehicle Accident

Salt Lake City, Utah – Randy Baatz, a 62-year-old resident of Salt Lake City, tragically passed away on September 15, 2024, following a single-vehicle crash. According to reports from the Salt Lake City Police Department, the accident occurred late Sunday night at 11:25 p.m. near 900 E. Blaine Avenue.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that a medical episode, likely a heart attack, may have caused the crash, which resulted in Randy’s vehicle striking a parked, unoccupied car. No other injuries were reported, and Randy was found deceased at the scene. He was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time.

Randy’s sudden passing has left his family and friends devastated. His wife, Margo Baatz, shared an emotional post on Facebook, writing, "With a broken inconsolable heart I announce my precious husband of 21 years has passed away… Randy will forever be the love of my life, my soulmate, the most precious gift God has ever given to me! Heaven is where we will reunite again!"

The outpouring of support from friends and loved ones has been immense. Erdeiné Valika posted, “Az angyalok őrízzék örök álmát,” while Patricia Baatz expressed, “Omg Margo Baatz I’m devastated.”

In addition to the overwhelming emotional support, a fundraiser organized by April Salgado has been set up to help the family manage the financial burden of Randy’s funeral expenses. So far, $5,500 has been raised to support the family during this difficult time.

Randy leaves behind his wife Margo, daughter Andrea, daughter-in-law April, his sons Christian, Nathan, and Anthony Salgado, as well as nine grandchildren.

The family and the community continue to grieve his untimely death, as investigators work to conclude the investigation into the cause of the crash.
