Sgt. Peter Mozurkevich, Longtime Officer of Pine Grove Borough, Passes Away at 62

Pine Grove Borough, Pennsylvania – Sgt. Peter Mozurkevich, a dedicated member of the Pine Grove Borough Police Department, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the age of 62.

Sgt. Mozurkevich, affectionately known as Pete, served his community for 34 years, starting as a part-time officer in 1990 and later transitioning to full-time on January 1, 2022.

He retired in February 2024, just months before his passing.

Throughout his long tenure, Pete was a familiar face on the streets, known for patrolling the area, checking parking meters, and engaging with local businesses during the afternoons and evenings.

The community has shown an outpouring of grief and respect, with the Pine Grove Borough flag lowered to half-mast in his honor.

Comments flooded social media, as friends and colleagues remembered him fondly.

“Great man,” shared Skip Butler, while Joanna Gaydek Laczynski added, “Rest in peace.”

Another commenter, Tanya Smith, wrote, “You were a great man… you will be missed by your family and friends.”

Karen Miller-Shepperd described him as a “nice man,” and Aubrey Lengle added, “Oh no!! Rip Pete.”

Sgt. Mozurkevich’s dedication and service to the Pine Grove community will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed.
