Steve Rusnak, Owner of Steve’s Corner Bar, Passes Away in a Tragic Accident at Park Falls

Park Falls, Wisconsin – Steve Rusnak, well-known owner of Steve’s Corner Bar and Bad Dawg, tragically passed away on August 6, 2024, in what was described as a freak accident. Rusnak, who had survived a massive heart attack years prior and was living with a heart-assisting device, was found to have passed while riding his lawn mower.

Steve had been preparing for an upcoming medical procedure in October, which would have allowed him to remove his colostomy bag and potentially receive a heart transplant. His daughter, Shelbi Routheaux, shared how they had discussed these plans with excitement just days before his untimely passing. Despite the challenges he faced, Steve was optimistic about his future and looking forward to regaining some normalcy in his life.

The sudden loss has left Shelbi with many financial burdens, including the costs of the celebration of life, cremation, and headstone, along with other bills and debts. Unfortunately, in the wake of his death, someone broke into Steve’s bar, stealing irreplaceable and priceless items, adding further distress to the family during this difficult time.

A GoFundMe campaign organized by Shelbi is helping to raise funds for the celebration of life and other expenses. So far, $165 has been raised out of a $10,000 goal.

Several supporters have contributed to the fundraiser, with Gabby Christian donating $50, Carolyn Daniels contributing $50, Alex Zajechowski offering $25, Mary McCorison giving $10, and Shane Kronberger donating $30. These contributions will go toward the celebration of life scheduled for September 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Park Falls Legion.

Shelbi took to Facebook to express her gratitude, writing, "Any help would be appreciated. Thank you."

The community continues to rally around the family as they navigate this tragic loss.
