Yonkers Resident Luis Alamo Passes Away at 61 – Family Organizes Fundraiser in His Memory

Yonkers, NY – Luis Alamo, affectionately known as "Papiro," passed away on September 16, 2024, at the age of 61. His family and loved ones are now coming together to honor his life and legacy. A fundraiser has been organized by his daughter, Luan Alamo, to help support memorial services for Luis.

Luis Alamo was born on June 14, 1963, and lived a life of kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family. Luan shared that her father was a man of "silent strength," always providing guidance, support, and love to those around him. He worked hard to provide for his family and instilled the values of love, respect, and hard work in his children.

Luan reflected on how her father’s presence was a source of comfort, recounting moments when he stayed up late helping with school projects or simply being there when she needed him most. "He was not only my father but my hero, mentor, and greatest supporter," she said.

The fundraiser in Luis’s memory has so far raised $1,190 of a $12,000 goal, with donations from 19 people. Some of the top donations include $200 from Jose Vazquez, $100 from Ana Figueroa, and $75 from Ileana Hernandez.

Several people have shared their thoughts on social media in memory of Luis Alamo. Patty Dukez commented, "Nicc Gloww, you already know," while Nicc Gloww added, "Thank you, my heart."

Luis is survived by his wife, Ketsy, and his children Dayna, Lizma, Luis, Luan, Keila, Aaron, and Javi, as well as his beloved stepchildren. The family expressed that although they will miss him deeply, they find comfort knowing that his spirit lives on in the lives he touched.

The family plans to update loved ones soon with details for the service celebrating his life.
